Choosing a Speaker

What I bring to a speaking event goes way beyond a first class presentation. Do you know how many speakers are available to speak at your event or organization? The challenge is, how do you choose a speaker who will be the right fit for your audience?

What I have found while listening to professional speakers is most deliver a canned speech. Every presentation is exactly the same as the previous one whether they’re speaking at a women’s organization or a trade union. In fact you can walk into their presentation 15 minutes into the hour and they will be right on the mark with the same exact words as their previous presentation at the same time.

A professional speaker however, will customize their presentation to suit your audience. They will be vulnerable enough to make mistakes to build rapport with the attendees. People want a speaker who has great information that impacts their life in a positive manner and makes them feel as though they are close enough to the speaker to attain the same level of success.

It’s the speaker’s job to be entertaining as well as informative. The educational level has to be directed to what the audience needs to know. But how will they know what the audience know if they are delivering the same presentation?
